EOSAM 2026, the European Optical Society Annual Meeting, came to our home city of Tampere on 24–28 August, and we were on the exhibition floor at booth #13.

EOSAM is one of Europe’s major international optics and photonics conferences, combining a scientific program with an industrial exhibition. The 2026 edition, the meeting’s 20th anniversary, was organized by the European Optical Society together with Photonics Finland, Tampere University and the PREIN Flagship, and brought around 500 researchers, engineers and industry professionals from more than 30 countries to Tampere.

The program covered eight topical meetings, from nanophotonics and optical materials to optical system design, tolerancing and manufacturing, and Frontiers in Optical Metrology. The plenary program included a lecture by Nobel laureate Anne L’Huillier on attosecond science.

At our booth, our Head of Metrology Ville Nummela and CCO Pekka Laiho met researchers, component makers and device manufacturers working across photonics. Havuja builds optical metrology and test automation for high-volume nano-optics and photonics production, and our team has spent more than 20 years taking optical metrology from R&D to mass production for the world’s leading OEMs.

The conversations kept coming back to the same theme: new optical devices are moving quickly from the lab toward volume production, and test and metrology need to keep pace. That is exactly where we work.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, and to the organizers for bringing EOSAM to Tampere.
